Activist judges ...

We have all heard reports of activist judges, those who legislate from the bench. Those reports concern many of us since these judges are stepping beyond their intended role.

However, an action that occurred this past week is far more alarming!

A judge in Pennsylvania dismissed a case involving a Muslim who attacked an atheist. What is alarming is the reprimand the judge gives to the plaintiff (excerpted from the first article):

Having had the benefit of having spent over 2 and a half years in predominantly Muslim countries I think I know a little bit about the faith of Islam. In fact I have a copy of the Koran here and I challenge you sir to show me where it says in the Koran that Mohammad arose and walked among the dead. I think you misinterpreted things. Before you start mocking someone else’s religion you may want to find out a little bit more about it. It makes you look like a doofus… In many Arabic speaking countries something like this is definitely against the law there. In their society in fact it can be punishable by death and it frequently is in their society.

I have included links to various articles about the story below. Please share this with others.

NOTE: Some of these stories refer to Judge Martin as a Muslim convert. This has been denied by a member of the Judge's staff. You can read more about that here.

SOPA Strike ...

I participated in the SOPA Strike yesterday by taking my site offline. Thankfully, President Obama has stated he is opposed to the measure, essentially killing it for now. However, we will have to keep a vigilant eye on this legislation or similar attempts to prevent piracy through legislation.

Here's a good article explaining Why SOPA is Dangerous.

2012 Election -- GOP Candidates

I know. It's still early, but there is a lot going on in the GOP Presidential race. Who are you supporting?

Here are links to the websites of the top 4 GOP candidates. Read, study and listen. It is important that we are "informed voters" when we go to the polls next year!

I haven't decided yet who I will be supporting. Right now, I am leaning towards Mr. Gingrich even though I have a slight aversion to career politicians. I like Mr. Cain, but his 9-9-9 plan doesn't seem very workable to me and, he winds up spending so much time explaining it that he is unable to share his positions on other issues. Mr. Perry seems to struggle in front of people, as do I, but I really like his flat tax proposal. (I supported the flat tax when Mr. Forbes ran for President.) And, I'm not sure what it is, but I just don't care for Mr. Romney as a candidate.

Let me know what you think!

Re-education?

I stated before (here) that religious liberty is under attack. Here is an article demonstrating just that. Individuals are being pushed into "re-education" or removed from their positions due to their beliefs, in this case expulsion from school for adhering to their personal views on homosexuality.

Is the community portrayed in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four becoming a reality?

Marriage ...

We have all heard the news, Judge overturns California's ban on same-sex marriage. I was not surprised by this ruling nor should anyone else.

We live in a time where groups of individuals who are unable to sway public opinion can use the courts to achieve their goals. This is extremely evident when it comes to same-sex marriage. You can see here that most states ban same-sex marriage. (You can also read about various polls here.) However, time after time, the supporters of same-sex marriage have taken the issue to the courts and achieved their goals with the latest being the overturning of Proposition 8.

So, what are those of us who support traditional marriage to do?

Unfortunately, I believe it is too late to do anything about marriage. The Ninth Circuit will uphold the decision as will the Supreme Court. Same-sex marriage will happen!

We need to focus on changing the hearts of people. As the public opinion polls show, support for same-sex marriage is growing. The question is, why? Is it fatigue over the issue? Is it apathy?

I believe the silencing of God in this country is the biggest reason for the change. Over the last 50 plus years, there has been one challenge after another to remove religion, especially the Christian religion, from the public square: from prayer at schools to removing "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. And, with each successful challenge, fewer and fewer people are willing to share their beliefs for fear of reprisal.

The Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience attempts to remind Christians that they are "called to proclaim the Gospel of costly grace, to protect the intrinsic dignity of the human person and to stand for the common good". The declaration discusses three specific issues: Life, Marriage and Religious Liberty.

Religious Liberty to me is of utmost importance. As I stated, I believe fear of reprisal causes many to hide their faith. We need to eliminate that fear by focusing on strengthening our right to share our religiously based opinions. Unfortunately, that is a tough task. It will require us to share first and then challenge the attacks that we WILL receive. I believe that once that fear is removed, we will see more and more Christians standing up for what we believe is right such as the sanctity of life.

I am a Christian! Jesus died for me and everyone else. It is by God's grace that I have eternal life.

I will not keep that good news to myself!

Will you stand with me?

Anarchy Is Reigned In !!!

The election results in Massachusetts is good news for all of us regardless of your party affiliation.

Brown wins Massachusetts Senate race
Brown Beats Coakley in Massachusetts Senate Race
The Scott heard 'round the world

Any time one political party has the ability to govern without being checked, we need to be concerned. This has been the case since President Obama took office.

And, health care is a prime example.

Poll after poll has shown that the citizens are not in favor of the changes being proposed in the current health care bills. However, they have passed and differences between the House version and the Senate version are being resolved as we speak.

The results of this election is, in my opinion, a message to the President and to Congress. That message is:

Listen to us!!!

Atheists' attacks on Christianity this Christmas season ...

Once again, Chuck Norris echoes my sentiments in the article, "Atheists' national holiday?".

The atheists are on the attack this year. And, what are they attacking? Religion and, more specifically, Christianity. Why can't they just say they believe there is "no god" without attacking religion?

It's the same with many who believe in evolution. They can't just say they believe in evolution. They have to attack Christianity. For example, some have taken a Christian symbol and modified it, mocking Christianity.

Christian symbol -->

Darwin symbol -->
